Founded in 1920 by a small group of European dancers, the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is today a global organization. Its purpose is to develop knowledge and understanding of dance worldwide and to promote its practice. RAD-trained teachers instruct over 250,000 students annually around the globe, following the RAD syllabus for classical ballet.

Curricula

For the RAD, it is of paramount importance that children receive professional ballet training. The academy’s curricula have been carefully designed to allow children to progress through training in specific stages, each demanding no more than a young body is capable of handling.

Ballet examinations

Registered RAD ballet teachers can prepare their students for RAD examinations at regular intervals. These examinations are administered by an independent RAD examiner.
